Eastbound!

Well that was a good weekend! I'm kicking off an east coast loop, and spent the last 4 days putting in 970 miles shooting from St. Louis over to Richmond, Virginia via the backroads of Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia. Not a single mile of interstate was touched, and rarely was there a straight or flat piece of road to be seen. It rained a bit on and off, but wow what an absolutely incredibly peaceful drive through the countryside those states offer. It was my first time through, and I definitely did not realize what I was missing. Appalachia is of course particularly beautiful, and I can't wait to spend a bunch more time there in a couple of months. I of course had to take a swing through Tail Of The Dragon (U.S. Rte 129), which was awesome albeit a little intense in the wet, and then camped a night in Great Smoky Mountains NP. Blue Ridge Parkway (a 469 mile scenic byway) is pretty amazing too; I did most of the southern half and look forward to doing the northern half on my return journey.

I'm in Richmond, VA now for a couple of weeks, and over the course of the next two months will be slowly making my way north, hugging the Atlantic coastline all the way up to Prince Edward Island. So prepare yourself for many pics of lighthouses...

Then from there I'll turn inland and weave back south through Vermont, Upstate New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Kentucky. Excited to see what's out there!
