S.S. Moyie Steamboat Museum

S.S. Moyie paddle steamer, permanently ashore in Kaslo, British Columbia is incredibly cool! Launched in 1898, she served passengers on Kootenay Lake till 1906 before becoming primarily freight focused all the way through 1957. She then immediately became a BC historical monument and museum in Kaslo. Incredibly well preserved today, which makes it really fun to walk around and just imagine what life must have been like back then, traveling on a ship like this 😍 That engine room is something else; I'd love to hear and witness the ballet between the crew and Captain to maneuver the ship with those levers and valves. Regarding the time she spent as a freight hauler, check out the last pic I have here. To get logging trains across the lake, they'd drive them onto a barge and then push them across with a paddle steamer! This was one of S.S Moyie's regular duties. I never knew that was a thing. Engineering marvels like this is what I love about discovering and experiencing history.
